Pilot Group Sought for Energy Reduction Program - 14/1/2010 Printing Industries is looking for NSW members to become involved in the development of an energy reduction workshop for the printing industry. Those companies joining the free pilot would be the first to benefit from the energy efficiencies and cost savings the workshops will highlight.
Printing Industries National Manager, Learning & Development, Simon Peppercorn, said experience with the Sustainable Green Print (SGP) program during 2009 highlighted that the majority of printing companies in NSW had not effectively mapped their energy consumption processes, or established objectives and targets for energy reduction."In effect, they are spending more on energy than is necessary," he said.
"In conjunction with the NSW Department of Environment, Climate Change and Water (DECCW), Printing Industries is working to develop a workshop which will help printers achieve the following outcomes:
"Once developed, we will be offering this workshop FREE to the first 50 printing companies. After that, depending on demand, this workshop will be available to SGP participants as an optional module to the SGP training program, at a cost to be determined."
Mr Peppercorn said that this was a good opportunity to lodge an expressions of interest to pilot this unique program and be among the first to benefit from the workshop.
"Your involvement will require attendance at a one-day developmental workshop and later to provide access to your site for an energy reduction evaluation by one of the environmental consultants involved in the project.
"Participation in the pilot group and subsequent workshops will be available on a ‘first come first served’ basis and interest is expected to be high, so we encourage you to respond ASAP," he said.
The consultants involved are:
Sonja Duncan
SD Environmental Management PTY LTD
Andrew Doig
Australian Sustainable Business Group
Carlo Lauricella
Applied Training Solutions
Companies interested in becoming involved in either the pilot group or the FREE workshops later in the year, should contact Simon on (02) 8789 7362 e-mail: simon@printnet.com.au
