Cadillac first SGP Level 2 Audited printer in South Australia - 17/8/2010

Cadillac Printing has become the first South Australian company to achieve Sustainable Green Print (SGP) Level 2 certification.

Printing Industries South Australian General Manager, Peter Mansfield, said Cadillac Printing achieved Level 1 certification in February and immediately set about taking the next step on the pathway to ISO certification.

“We welcome their commitment to our program and congratulate the company, its management and staff for their enthusiasm in learning and putting into action the processes to successfully complete the Level 2 Key Performance Indicators,” he said.

“Cadillac undertook SGP to lower its environmental impact, meet customer and consumer expectations and, through the better waste management structures SGP helps develop, to improve business profitability.

“All indicators point to this having been achieved or exceeded with plans put into place to ensure continuity and a strengthening of the company’s market position.”

Cadillac Printing General Manager, Shaun Barclay, said the process had taken some eight months to complete.

“Through self assessment and external auditing we now have an in-depth understanding of the business and the knowledge of waste reporting to set targets for the business to reduce costs and just as importantly reduce waste and any environmental impact,” he said.

“During this journey we have learnt to reduce our land fill substantially by better separation of waste and the use of readily available recycling companies, to fully understand what our impact is and could be on the environment and have therefore put procedures in to lessen or avoid this impact.”

Mr Barclay said that when the company began SGP it believed that it’s recycling and waste was under control and would only need minor improvements.

“But when the step by step task was under taken we quickly came to realize there were many improvements which equates to less waste generation, less landfill and better ways to protect our environment,” he said.
